Fit and finish is top notch. The liner lock engagement and disengagement is better than previous purchases. No binding at all. The blade style is what drew me to this knife. Blade centering is perfect and deployment is very smooth. Very happy to have snagged one.

I picked one of these up in either 2012 or 2013. I don't know anymore because --- I dropped it in Lake Superior at a beach and found it a few days later, amazingly. The detent ball fell out and the coarse sand/gravel destroyed the black coating and edge. I took it apart and polished the blade to a near mirror finish. I do not suggest doing that though because you lose the serial number. Anyways, I couldn't send it in because it no longer had identifying markers to prove its manufacture. It sat in a junk chest for like five years then I figured out I could repair it. I found the correct size ball, put one of the pivot washers around the hole, and struck the ball once with a mallet. It worked perfectly. I also replaced some of the screws with aftermarket offerings. I easily repaired the chisel ground edge with a file and stone and got it back into action. It now looks like a shiny, sterilized super 7 with a black spine. It is risen from the dead and just as functional as the day I first received it -Try any of that with some of Emerson's competitors!

I picked one of these up in 2013. I wear size L-XL gloves, however, I do not consider my hands to be that big. This fits my hand better than the original cqc8. The original is still my favorite in a lot of ways, but this thing is so comfortable in my hands and the blade is very formidable. I've cut down a lot of brush with this thing, like a machete or something. I've used it so much that I need to get a new one some day. It has held up very well, but I just like the design that much. A brand new one in thunderstorm and plain edge would be awesome. I'm not usually into partially serrated blades, but I did choose that version. The blade is long enough that you can perform many cutting tasks without using the serrations at all. I've used the serrations for cutting hard or fibrous materials on many occasions and it was very effective.

I was getting the mail yesterday and I saw a package from that business ;) If you know, you know. I instantly knew that my wife and kids decided to surprise me for my birthday. When I shook the box, I could tell what model it was purely by the feel of the thump. She was kind of ticked because my birthday was a week away and wanted to surprise me; however, completely blown away by just how fast it had arrived from so far away (ordered Friday/arrived following Monday). What a great birthday present from my family. The first time I saw this blade, I wanted it but it was gone. Now, upon it's re-release it was gifted to me. I have a special interest and connection to the history of its inspiration and the design, to me, has a magical quality to it. This is something that I will keep close to me for a long time. Emerson knives have an essence to them that you don't find with most brands and this knife really embodies that.

I purchased one of these in 2009. It was the version without a swedge, the older g10, and smaller **** slots. It is now 2025. It's still going and the black coating is still 90% despite all these years of use. It is a monster of a knife and I value it with sentimentality, as it's been with me throughout my journey from a young serviceman to a middle-aged father. It will likely outlast me someday and be passed down. The shape of the blade and its size lends itself to deep cuts and effective slashing. I do plan on getting a regular commander, eventually.

I picked up one of these recently. The last emerson that I purchased was in 2013- prior to new changes. I had a 2012 Cqc8 and a 2013 super 8; the former was ruined (long story). Regardless, I wanted a new one. I was hesitant because I prefer backspacers over standoffs and loved the tough black cpating no longer available. I thought the newer emersons would be shadows of the former versions and I was wrong. Somehow the single detent holds the blade better than the double did, the standoffs are stronger than the backspace were, and the thunderstorm finish is even better than the old DLC or whatever it was. The cqc8 is an all-around great knife with the perfect handle and blade design. It easily maneuvers in the hand and carries slim for a larger knife. It is my favorite folder in a lot of ways and I'm glad to have one again. I would also like to thank Emerson for the decent discount I reciev3d for my occupation. I wish I had taken advantage of this years ago, but that was when you could still purchase the knives through retailers. If you buy a cqc8, you will not be dissapointed in it. It also has a great history behind it.

My go to Karambit! I have multiple Karambits but this one is smooth, easily and so rapidly deployable yet isn’t bulky or heavy at all.

I love the Elvia design. I have a few knives designed by Ed and they never disappoint, including this mini Elvia by Emersion. The fit and finish of a real Emerson knife is impressive and well worth the money.

This knife is small but in my opinion, an Elvia type blade does not need to be big to be effective. The blade is extreamly sharp and perfectly centred when stowed away between the g10 grips. When the knife is deployed the lock up is precise and sturdy.

Thank you Emerson, thank you Ed and thank you Elvia for this knife.

BOWIE BONANZA!!! A modern take on a classic blade. Ergonomics are on point with a superbly placed ramp to take place of it being waveless. The future is bright for EKI with Lucas already cranking out beauts like this!

First one I had was a benchmade collab. It was my first of the kind. I was a teenager and it was stolen/lost. Then I had a 7A. Indestructible. Then I got myself a 7B for my birthday almost 15 years ago. Then a super in 2013, and later 2 protech collab versions. I've carried these all over the place in multiple duty roles. They can take all the abuse in the world and keep going. The first time I saw one I thought it was the most beautiful folding knife I'd ever seen, but it's looks are more than matched by its function and strength. People that see knives as little more than sharp fidget spinners might not like it because of it's steel choice, grind, simple construction, or shape; however, people who carry knives daily as serious tools will absolutely love that it can be sharpened on any course surface, it is immune to the elements with little care, and can be serviced completely with a multitool or less. Try doing that with an overpriced and overcomplicated pretty looking knife- you won't. It'll break and you probably won't even be able to re-sharpen its overhardened super steel in less than an hour with dedicated tools- let alone in the field with limited resources at-hand.

I had one of these in the early 2000s. It followed me into the military from years of use as a civillian. I was young and bored so I spent a lot of time intentionally beating on this knife- to the point of one day slamming it on the concrete over and over unable to damage it. I had other knives, to include emersons, that I favored. When my partner on duty realized that I was indeed trying to destroy it, he said it was too nice of a knife to destroy, so I gave it to him and he took it to Iraq. He probably still has it. This knife is indestructible.

This does an excellent job of capturing all the traits that make the kukri such a versatile blade in a folder configuration. Action is smooth like a well oiled machine, lock-up is tight and confidence inspiring, scales are nicely chamfered with strong grip, and the blade grind seems close to perfection. The knife arrived very sharp in perhaps one of the best all around practical steels - 154. All the design elements down to the screws are well thought out for field use. It even carries easily. First true Emerson knife I've owned and I'm impressed.

A blend of simplicity and practicality. Makes an ideal EDC with the perfect weight, ergonomics, and blade design that can be matched up to so many task. Being the love child of 2 Emerson legends, this knife is a legend all to itself. If you appreciate a recurve blade and love the way a cqc7 feels on hand then you’re in for a real treat.

A powerhouse! Smooth as butter with a blade that feels like it’s 4 inches. Perfect edc for whatever the day brings. If they drop it in thunderstorm I’d get another. It’s that damn good!

I own a lot of knives, this is my first emerson. I think this may be the best knife design I’ve ever seen. Fits my medium size hands like it was made for me, locks up like a bank vault, g10 is really grippy, and the blade shape is the most useful of all my folders. Just ordered my second one to use at work. Outstanding knife!

This knife is amazing in hand. Almost all the screws hardware and even thumb disc are all titanium. Great knife and thank you Mr. Emerson for commemorating this historic inauguration date!

A birthday present in 1999, the original “9|9” on the blade. It is still my edc. It’s been to 4 continents, Fiji, US, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, China, Philippines, Vietnam. If this knife could talk?! I’m thinking of retiring it and getting a new one. I panic when I think I lose it. I’d be heartbroken. Almost lost it returning from Colombia. (Checked luggage need to stay behind)

4XL / Black
Soul Breaker Tee is SWEET!!!

I really love the design on both the front and back, and excited that there are larger sizes.
My only complaint would be that I’m not a fan of the soft feel tees, and prefer a more standard thicker cotton shirt. These feel very thin and worn, and I’d prefer to wear my shirts in over time giving them personal feel.
